Biocidal products supplied into Lithuanian market and used in the country should be authorised.
If the active substance is still not approved, but included into the review program, the biocidal product could be supplied to the market or used according with the national legislation requirements.
Authorisation of biocidal products in accordance with legislative requirements of the Republic of Lithuania.
If the active substance of biocidal product is not approved at EU level, then is possible authorise the product in accordance with legislative requirements of the Republic of Lithuania.
In the Republic of Lithuania the authorisation and registration of biocides carried out in accordance with 14 August 2002 No. 421 order No. 358 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania „On Biocides authorisation and registration confirmation of rules“ (Official Gazette. 2002, No. 87-3760 and subsequent amendments).
Depending on biocidal product type, there are two institutions, which authorise biocidal products in Lithuania:
The National Public Health Center at the Ministry of Health authorises biocidal products of these types:
1 Product-type. Human hygiene
2 Product-type. Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals
4 Product-type. Food and feed area (with the exception for use as animal feed in animal raising, storage areas and transport vehicles, intended only for entire bodies of animals or parts of the disinfection and preservation)
5 Product-type. Drinking water
6 Product-type. Preservatives for products during storage
7 Product-type. Film preservatives
8 Product-type. Wood preservatives
9 Product-type. Fibre, leather, rubber and polymerised materials preservatives
10 Product-type. Construction material preservatives
11 Product-type. Preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems
12 Product-type. Slimicides
13 Product-type. Working or cutting fluid preservatives
15 Product-type. Avicides
16 Product-type. Molluscicides, vermicides and products to control other invertebrates
17 Product-type. Piscicides
18 Product-type. Insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods (with the exception for use as animal feed in animal raising, storage areas and transport vehicles, intended only for entire bodies of animals or parts of the disinfection and preservation)
19 Product-type. Repellents and attractants (with the exception for use as animal feed in animal raising, storage areas and transport vehicles, intended only for entire bodies of animals or parts of the disinfection and preservation)
20 Product-type. Control of other vertebrates (with the exception for use as animal feed in animal raising, storage areas and transport vehicles, intended only for entire bodies of animals or parts of the disinfection and preservation)
21 Product-type. Antifouling products
The State Food and Veterinary Service authorizes 4, 14, 18, 19 and 22 of the type of biocidal products, intended for use as animal feed in animal raising, storage areas and transport vehicles, intended only for entire bodies of animals or parts of the disinfection and preservation.
For authorisation of biocidal products, it is necessary to submit an application for authorisation of the product. By authorizing biocidal product, must be submitted the active substance dossier and the mixture dossier. It must also be submitted projects of the label and instructions for use, the SDS project, other documents.
